14 August 2008

Hello everyone.

Performance of the week goes to Ray D after two wins this week, but most impressively a 9-2 win over his bogey player Scott. These results leave him on the verge of promotion after spending most of the season in the relegation zone.

Now for the serious bit. Firstly, Garry B has had to withdraw from the League and I have no further details than that. In view of the withdrawal, we have no alternative but to remove his results against the other players in his division. This is especially bad news for Lauren, Trevor and Anne. Sorry, but despite the lateness of the time of the season, Garry is not able to complete his matches.

A lot of people have been asking me recently about the state of the tables at Sutton. Sutton now has a new manager as Liam follows Matt, and we have pointed out to him that the standard of the tables, in particular their levelness and speed, needs improvement.

For those who are not happy with the tables, regrettably all I can do is say that it is hoped that the standard will improve under the new management. I can give no promises, except to say that there will NOT be a move to Croydon for the winter season. It is too soon to even consider, and they have their own league over there. We will be reviewing the tables over the season, but I actually believe that the tables are no worse than six months ago. It is my opinion that because many of you have recently played at Guildford and Croydon that it looks like the tables are worse than they actually are. This does not negate the need for improvement however, and we will be trying our hardest to ensure that this happens.

Next week is the last week that we will accept discounted entries for the winter season, so if you wish to rejoin and want a £5 discount, then hurry!

Team League week 4 was played this Monday and with one week of matches left, the table shows a four horse race. Mike's team defeated Jack's 12-4 while the other matches were drawn 8-8.

Fixtures, results and tables for both leagues are updated. See you all soon.

Richard
