Please note that
this set of rules is intended as a guideline. The League is intended to be run
on a good faith basis, and the Committee and Players are expected to behave in that
manner. The Committee reserve the right to make alterations to these rules,
should it be deemed necessary.
1. League matches will be played during
the summer season, at fortnightly intervals. All matches will be scheduled for
a Monday evening.
2. Each match will have a designated
start time of 8pm. The match can be moved to a second table should it be deemed
necessary and possible.
3. A team shall consist of a minimum of
four players, each playing a maximum of four frames.
4. During the match, a person is
allocated a number from 1 to 4, and they will keep that number throughout the
match, unless they are substituted out for a set of four frames, and
subsequently put back in for someone else. A player can be considered as a
non-playing reserve on one occasion only during the season, and even this must
require extreme circumstances, and be agreed by the SPPL Committee.
5. Only one match result sheet is
required for each match. The home team will list their first four players first
and pass the sheet to the away team who will then do likewise. This will
continue for each set of four frames. Only four at a time need to be filled in,
because of substitutions. The captains should sign the sheet at the end of the
night to declare that the correct result is on the sheet.
6. Each match will consist of 16 frames
played in accordance with the recognised World Rules. The time limit however,
will not be strictly enforced. Players are reminded that they should be
attempting to play their shots within one minute. The winning team will secure
a two point bonus, whilst a draw will give both teams one bonus point each.
7. The home team are responsible for
refereeing the first frame of the evening, with the winning player refereeing
each subsequent frame. The home team is responsible for paying the cost of the
tables. There will be a toss of a coin to determine the break in each frame.
8. If a team is short, then position
number 4 will be left blank, and frames will be awarded to the opposition. If
both teams are one player short, the match would revert to a 9 frame match.
9. If a match is unfinished, or doesn’t
even start, then the Committee will make a decision regarding the outcome.
10. The final League placings will be
determined on the basis of the most points won. If two or more teams are level
on points, then matches won will be the deciding factor. Should teams still be
level, then the head-to-head result will be the deciding factor.
11. Should any team resign from the
League mid-season, then all points won by them, and by their opponents will be
removed.
12. All members will behave in a respectable
manner, and display courtesy to their opponents and other players whilst on, or
off the table. Excessive noise is distracting, and not necessary in a good
faith league such as ours.
13. Should any disputes arise between
players, then the captains need to discuss between them, and if there is still
no agreement, then the Chairman is available to be contacted for further
advice, but will then have the final decision. If a player is still unhappy
with any decision, they can request the Committee to look in to it.
